Audi Unveils Special 'Dakar Edition' of the Q8 55 e-tron quattro in Honor of the 2024 Dakar Rally
In a few days, the 2024, Dakar Rally will kick off, and Audi believes that the RS Q e-tron could surpass its debut performance from 2022, where Mattias Ekström and Emil Bergkvist finished ninth in their class.
Audi is also confident that its participation in this demanding off-road rally could boost the sales of their road vehicles. To celebrate this event, Audi has unveiled the 'Dakar Edition,' a special version based on the Q8 55 e-tron quattro. For those not familiar with the confusing naming system, this is Audi's largest electric SUV with a 106 kWh battery and two electric motors producing a combined 402 hp and 490 lb-ft of torque.
It's noteworthy that the powertrain of the Q8 e-tron Edition Dakar has remained entirely unchanged. However, Audi estimates that you can expect an impressive range of 250 km along with an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds.
Unfortunately, specific details about any modifications or unique features for the Dakar Edition are lacking. It appears that Audi primarily aims to draw attention to its participation in the Dakar Rally and the impressive performance of its electric vehicle in a challenging off-road environment.
