BYD, one of the largest manufacturers of electric vehicles worldwide, unveiled the BYD Atto 2 at the Brussels Motor Show. This fully electric SUV targets the B-segment and aims to conquer the European market with its affordability and compact size, ideal for urban use and short trips outside the city.

Design and Dimensions
The BYD Atto 2 measures 4.31 meters in length, 1.83 meters in width, and 1.68 meters in height. With a wheelbase of 2.62 meters, this SUV offers ample interior space despite its compact external dimensions. Its modern and appealing design features sleek LED headlights, a continuous LED strip across the grille, and body-colored accents along the sides. These elements give the Atto 2 a dynamic and elegant look, while the short front and rear overhangs enhance agility, emphasizing its SUV character.

Technical Specifications
The Atto 2 is equipped with BYD’s innovative Blade Battery technology, using lithium iron phosphate (LFP) as the cathode material. This battery is not only safe and durable but also free of cobalt and nickel, contributing to better environmental sustainability. The SUV comes with a base battery pack of 45.1 kWh, offering a range of 312 kilometers under the WLTP standard. The electric motor delivers 177 hp and drives the front wheels.

Interior and Comfort
Inside, the Atto 2 offers a surprisingly spacious and comfortable cabin, with a boot capacity ranging from 400 to 1,340 liters when the rear seats are folded. The interior features high-quality, tactile materials and a large central display that can be oriented vertically or horizontally. This screen, combined with a digital instrument cluster, provides a modern and organized cockpit.

Market Positioning and Pricing
The BYD Atto 2 is positioned as a budget-friendly electric SUV designed to compete with established names such as the Jeep Avenger, Fiat 600e, Opel Mokka-e, and Peugeot E-2008. While exact pricing has yet to be announced, it is expected that the Atto 2 will be priced below the Atto 3, with estimates around the low €30,000 range. BYD promises to reveal more details, including pricing, in the coming weeks.

Conclusion
With the introduction of the BYD Atto 2, BYD demonstrates its ambition to become a significant player not only in China but also in Europe’s electric car market. The Atto 2 combines affordability, sustainability, and practical design, making it an appealing choice for urban adventurers looking for an electric SUV without breaking the bank.

This model is set to attract consumers who value eco-friendly mobility without compromising on comfort and design. The Atto 2 is expected to arrive on European markets, including the Netherlands and Belgium, in the first quarter of 2025.
