Volkwagen ID. 7 Tourer

Volkwagen ID. 7 Tourer

31 October 2023

The brand-new Volkswagen Passat has just entered the market, but it brings a significant change: the classic sedan has been replaced by the Passat Variant, the wagon version. On the other hand, the ID.7, considered the electric counterpart to the traditional Passat, was initially only available as a four-door sedan and not as a wagon. But now, according to official information from Volkswagen, confirmation has come, which was already widely expected: a wagon version of the ID.7 is coming to the market.

This wagon will be Volkswagen's very first electric station wagon and will be named "Tourer," in contrast to the usual "Variant" designation associated with models like the Golf and Passat. Volkswagen has always maintained the "Variant" name for their wagons, with the exception of the Arteon Shooting Brake.

As for the cargo space of the ID.7 Tourer, it promises to be quite impressive. With the rear seat up, it offers a generous 545 liters of cargo space, which is more than sufficient for most daily needs. Lowering the rear seat gives you a huge 1,714 liters of space, allowing you to transport even larger loads without a problem. However, the Passat Variant is not easily outdone, with its 690 liters of cargo space when the rear seat is up and an impressive 1,920 liters when the rear seat is folded down.

In the bigger picture, Volkswagen has been committed to an impressive electric offensive for some time. The ID.7 Tourer is just one of the latest additions to their growing electric lineup. Volkswagen is committed to the transition to electric mobility and has big plans to launch a series of new electric vehicles in the coming years.

With models like the ID.3, ID.4, and the upcoming ID.7 Tourer, they demonstrate that electric driving is the future. Furthermore, they have announced that they plan to introduce more than 70 fully electric models to the global market by 2030. So, Volkswagen is clearly determined to become a major player in the electric automotive industry and is steadily expanding its electric offerings. We look forward to seeing the final look of the ID.7 Tourer and welcoming this electric station wagon to the market, and we are excited to hear more exciting electric news from Volkswagen in the years to come.
