Volkswagen ID. Buzz: More Options and Larger Batteries for 2024
Volkswagen expands the ID. Buzz family with new battery options and enhanced features, providing more choices for both sporty and practical users. Here is an overview of the latest specifications and improvements.
New Battery Options
For the sporty GTX version, there are two wheelbase options available: short and long. The short wheelbase comes with a 79 kWh battery, while the long wheelbase features a new 86 kWh battery. The rear-wheel-drive Pro version now also offers this choice, with the longer version, the ID. Buzz Pro LWB, using the larger battery. Depending on the equipment and weight, the WLTP range varies from 453 to 487 kilometers for the long version. For comparison, the short Pro with the 79 kWh battery has a range of 423 to 461 kilometers. For the GTX version, the range is not yet known, as the homologation procedure is not yet complete.
Fast Charging and Capacity
The 79 kWh battery can now be fast-charged up to 185 kW, while the 86 kWh battery can even reach 200 kW. This means that charging from 10 to 80 percent capacity is possible in both cases in less than 30 minutes.
Dimensions and Capacity
The long wheelbase version (LWB) measures 4,962 millimeters in length, which is 25 centimeters longer than the standard ‘short’ ID. Buzz. With a wheelbase of 3,239 millimeters, the LWB comfortably seats seven adults, with two seats in the front, three in the middle, and two in the back. The five-seat configuration offers up to 1,340 liters of cargo space, which can be expanded to 2,469 liters with the rear seats folded down. The short wheelbase version can now also be equipped with two extra seats in a 2+2+2 configuration, although the space in the back is then more limited for taller people.
Enhanced Hardware and Software
All ID. Buzz models are equipped with upgraded hardware and software. The new infotainment system features a faster generation with a 12.9-inch touchscreen. Additionally, there are illuminated controls for temperature and volume, voice control with more ‘natural’ commands, and ChatGPT integration. Extra safety features have also been added. The options list includes a head-up display and Park Assist Pro with remote control via smartphone.
With these updates and expansions, the Volkswagen ID. Buzz offers more flexibility, comfort, and technology for various driving needs.
