The Volvo EX30: Compact and Innovative

  • Revolutionary Dashboard: In the Volvo EX30, the glove compartment is not where you would normally expect it, on the right side of the dashboard. There is nothing there. Instead, Volvo has placed the glove compartment under the central display. This clever choice makes it easier for the driver to access it.

  • Ideal for Families: With a length of 4.23 meters, the Volvo EX30 is the smallest Volvo currently available in the market. Comparable in size to the Renault Captur and the electric Hyundai Kona. The wheelbase of 2.65 meters is 5 centimeters shorter than that of the Volvo XC40, which is particularly noticeable on the rear seat. Headroom is generous, even with the large panoramic roof present in our test model. However, legroom is somewhat limited. This may be particularly relevant for families with small children. However, the front seats offer excellent support.

  • Simple and Minimalist Interior: To keep the price of the Volvo EX30 competitive, the interior has deliberately been kept minimalist. Fewer buttons, keys, and decorative details mean lower production costs. Even the power windows for the front and rear are operated with the same buttons, which are not on the door armrest (where they ideally should be) but on the center console, which is more cost-effective. Furthermore, you will search in vain for a traditional instrument cluster; it is simply absent. Instead, you will find a camera that detects, for example, fatigue in the place where the instrument cluster would normally be. The speakers have been replaced by a single soundbar across the entire width of the dashboard (optionally from Harman Kardon). This reduces wiring and thus costs. The touch buttons on the steering wheel have multiple functions, another cost-saving consideration. The beautiful aluminum door handles add a touch of luxury to the overall design.

  • Competitively Priced with an Important Note: The price of the Volvo EX30 is indeed competitive. The base model starts at €36,795, but it's important to note that this model has a limited range of 344 kilometers. Volvo primarily targets drivers who mainly drive in the city, making short trips to nearby recreational areas at most. If you desire more range, you can opt for the Extended Range version for an additional €4,700, which suddenly provides an extended range of 480 kilometers.

In summary, the Volvo EX30 is a compact car with an innovative interior design, perfect for urban dwellers and families with young children looking for an efficient and affordable electric vehicle.
