Electra's Expansion to the Netherlands: A New Step Towards European Leadership

Electra's Ambitious Plans in the Netherlands

Electra, one of the leading European specialists in fast charging for electric cars, has announced its entry into the Dutch market. The company aims to install a hundred charging stations with over six hundred charging points in the Netherlands by 2030. This expansion is part of Electra's strategy to become the market leader in Europe by the end of this decade.

Growing Presence in Europe

Since its inception in 2021, Electra is already active in eight European countries: Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Austria, Spain, and Switzerland. With the addition of the Netherlands, Electra extends its European footprint to nine countries. The company plans to achieve around 2,200 charging stations with a total of 15,000 charging points by 2030. This ambition aligns with the expected increase in the number of electric vehicles in Europe, with a projection of 30 million electric cars by 2030.

Focus on Urban Areas

Electra emphasizes the importance of deploying fast, reliable, and user-friendly charging stations, especially in urban areas and close to amenities such as supermarkets, restaurants, hotels, and public parking lots. Customers can reserve a charging point up to half an hour before arrival via an app and pay with a charging card, bank card, Google Pay, or Apple Pay. Electra's network is available 24/7 and facilitates about 100,000 charging sessions per month.

Recent Growth and Future Plans

In Belgium and Luxembourg, Electra, under the leadership of Louis-Charles Mosseray, has experienced rapid growth with the establishment of 35 charging stations and 200 charging points since August 2022. This growth has been supported by collaborations with companies such as Delhaize and TaxisVerts. With a new funding round of 304 million euros, led by the Dutch pension fund PGGM, Electra plans to continue its expansion. In total, Electra has already raised more than 600 million euros in Europe and established partnerships with leading companies such as Stellantis, Honda, MG, Europacar, Sixt, and Hertz.

This strategic expansion and financing position Electra as a pioneer in the transition to electric driving in Europe, with the vision to become the largest player in the European market by 2030.
